State-Local Partnership Program Applications Now Available -- Deadline April 30

The State-Local Partnership Program application for 2010-11 funding is now available on the California Arts Council website. The program fosters cultural development on the local level through a partnership between the California Arts Council and the designated local arts agency of each county. Only current partners are eligible to apply. Please check the Eligibility List on the program's web page. Deadline is April 30, 2010.

Monterey County's Morgan Brown to represent California in Poetry Out Loud nationals

Morgan Brown from Monterey County (a junior at Pacific Grove High School -- age 16) took first place and will represent California in the national Poetry Out Loud finals in Washington, D.C. in April. Taking second was Christian Sanchez-Bartz from Los Angeles County (a junior at Millikan High School in Long Beach), and Cheryl Evans from Contra Costa County (a senior at Deer Valley High School) placed third.

Governor Declares March as "Arts Education Month"

Governor Schwarzenegger -- in an official proclamation released on March 3, 2010 -- declared March as "Arts Education Month." "Art, in its countless forms, has a unique and profound impact on our lives," noted the statement. "It is important for people of all ages to be exposed to the arts, and that is why I am proud to proclaim March 2010 as Arts Education Month." SEE PROCLAMATION
