Longtime California Arts Council administrator Josie Talamantez to retire

Josie Talamantez, Chief of Programs for the California Arts Council, has announced plans to leave state service. Her last day in the office is set for July 29, 2011. Josie has worked for the California Arts Council for over 25 years, and recently received the Bramson Memorial Award in Historic Preservation for her master's thesis in public history that chronicles the efforts to have an open-air museum of historic murals in San Diego added to the National Registry of Historic Places.

It's not too late to donate to the arts on state tax returns! August 15 is the deadline for late filers

For those folks who filed for an extension of the April 15 income tax deadline, August 15 is looming large. That's the extended deadline to join the thousands of other Californians who, collectively, have donated over $150,000 to the arts in California through the "Contributions" section on state tax returns.
