A National Victory for Arts in Corrections

Yesterday, the House Judiciary Committee passed H.R. 759, the "Recidivism Risk Reduction Act" by a voice vote. The Judiciary Committee included Congressman Ted Lieu's (D, Los Angeles County) request for arts language, and Section 5 of the bill now lists "art organizations" as groups the Bureau of Prisons must enter into partnerships with to reduce recidivism.   MORE >>

Spread the word about our new Cultural Pathways program

This year, we're rolling out a new grant program called Cultural Pathways, which is designed to strengthen the capacity of small, new, and emerging arts organizations that serve and represent the diversity of California and to anchor the creative work of these organizations in the cultural landscape of the state. This program provides two years of operating support and a host of technical assistance and professional development activities to small and emerging organizations (budget of less than $150,000) rooted in communities of color, recent immigrant and refugee communities, or tribal groups.

Applications and guidelines are available now for this program. March 30, 2016 is the deadline to apply. Organizations interested in applying are encouraged to participate in a free informational webinar on Tuesday, March 2 at 11am. Webinar registration, program guidelines, and application are available at http://arts.ca.gov/programs/pathways.php.

We hope you will help us spread the word about this exciting new program using the resources below:
