Notables like Robert Redford, Steve Martin, the cast of Glee, and Quincy Jones are "Arts Drivers" with goal of $40 million for arts education
Hundreds are expected to attend a special event to support the Arts License Plate program and the California Arts Council on March 22, 2012, at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, including celebrity "Arts Drivers" like Maria Shriver, Macy Gray, Frank Gehry, Debbie Allen, with Ozomatli performing and catering provided by Wolfgang Puck.
Other notable names who have signed on as Arts Drivers and have been invited to the special event include (in alpha order): Annette Bening, Jack Black, Eli Broad, Vernon Davis, Placido Domingo, The Edge, Harrison Ford, David Geffen, the cast of Glee, Macy Gray, Quincy Jones, Steve Martin, Ozomatli, Wolfgang Puck, Robert Redford, Tim Robbins, Ed Ruscha, Russell Simmons and Alice Waters.
The evening marks the launch of the "Create a State" campaign for the California Arts Council. This special team of arts supporters has the goal of raising $40 million for arts and arts education programs through the sale of one million Arts Plates, the iconic special license plate with the sunset and palm tree motif designed by renowned California artist Wayne Thiebaud. Sponsors of the event include Sony Pictures Entertainment, Ovation, and Susan Steinhauser and Daniel Greenberg. The "Create a State" campaign was developed by Industrial Creative, a Los Angeles based advertising agency.
The star-studded "Create a State" event takes place on March 22, 2012, starting at 7:00 p.m. (pre-event festivities at 6:30 p.m.) at Sony Pictures Studios at 10202 W.
