California Arts Council Staff Sponsors "Read to Feed" Book Sale and Silent Auction on December 1
All proceeds go to the State Employees' Annual Food Drive; book donations accepted up to November 29
The California Arts Council staff -- like many other State of California employees -- collect canned goods and non-perishable food products each holiday season for the State Employees' Annual Food Drive. But this year the Arts Council staff is taking it one step further and having a book sale on December 1 to raise funds so food banks can replenish foodstuff items they need.
The sale will take place on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, in front of the Department of Justice Building (where the Arts Council offices are housed) at 1300 "I" Street (between 13th and 14th) from 11am and 2pm. The California Arts Council staff welcomes the public to come browse for vacation reading, holiday presents, or just something to round out a personal collection of literary art -- and help feed the hungry this holiday season. Artwork, special collections, and books signed by the authors will also be available as part of a silent auction.
The staff has been able to collect dozens of books, but more are always welcome if folks from the capital community would like to donate to the effort. Please contact Theresa D'Onofrio at firstname.lastname@example.org or 916-322-6572, or come on by and put your donations into the book bin at the cafeteria's doors and entrance.
