Californians: Is there a Christmas song in your heart?
The 2011 National Christmas Tree Presentation is looking for you!
California composers--or those who sing in the shower and have friends who can write down a score--here is your opportunity to express yourself for the holidays and smell Tuolumne County pine needles...in Washington, D.C.
California was selected to send the 2011 Christmas Tree to the Capitol Mall in Washington, DC. Because Stanislaus National Forest was chosen to provide the tree, Central Sierra Arts Council, the California Arts Council's State-Local Partner in Tuolumne County, is helping with arts-related activities. Central Sierra Arts Council and the Stanislaus National Forest are coordinating a statewide search for the Christmas Tree Song. The winning composer will receive an all-expense-paid trip to the nation's capital to perform at a reception just prior to the lighting ceremony in December.
A panel will review the top three selections from arts councils statewide, and make a final selection of the winner and nine other songs. The ten chosen songs will be featured on a compact disc. Any Californian at least 18 years of age may enter, regardless of whether their local arts council has chosen to participate in song selection. See more.
