The Irvine Fine Arts Center is pleased to announce the annual juried All Media exhibition and invites Southern California based artists to submit artwork for consideration. This year the exhibition will be juried by multidisciplinary artist Kim Abeles.
About ALL MEDIA 2017 juror
Kim Abeles is a Los Angeles based artist whose installations and community projects cross disciplines and media to explore biography, geography and environment. She has created artwork in conjuction with a unique range of collaborators including California Science Center, California Bureau of Automotive Repair, Department of Health, and natural history museums in California, Colorado and Florida. She has exhibited in 22 countries, frequently creating site specific works, including large-scale installations for exhibitions in Vietnam, Thailand, Czech Republic, England, China, and South Korea. Kim Abeles: Encyclopedia Persona A-Z, curated by Karen Moss for the Fellows of Contemporary Art, toured the U.S., and South America sponsored by the United States Information Agency.
Abeles is a recipient of fellowships from J. Paul Getty Trust Fund for the Visual Arts, Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship, California Community Foundation and Pollock-Krasner Foundation, and was a 2014/15 Lucas Visual Arts Fellow at the Montalvo Arts Center. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Ohio University and a Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art from the University of California Irvine. Abeles' journals, artist books and process documents are archived at the Center for Art + Environment, Nevada Museum of Art.
