Exhibitions & Fairs Coordinator

David Kordansky Gallery, Los Angeles, CA is seeking an EXHIBITIONS & FAIRS COORDINATOR. Qualified candidates will have exceptional multitasking, organizational, liaising, and administrative skills, and an aptitude for logistics, project management, and creative problem solving. The Exhibitions & Fairs Coordinator position is full-time, Monday through Friday, but the applicant must be flexible and available outside of designated days on an as-needed basis.  Applicant is required to have previous experience coordinating exhibitions at a gallery, museum, or comparable arts organization. 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Define fabrication, shipping, installation, de-installation, and photography needs and schedules with Head Preparator, Registrars, Archivists, and Artist Liaisons
  • Create and maintain timelines for all matters concerning art fairs and exhibitions
  • Oversee art fair deadlines and communication of relevant information regarding fairs to Gallery staff
  • Manage and complete art fair applications for the Gallery
  • Liaise with vendors / contractors / fabricators for art fair presentation and exhibition needs – obtaining cost estimates and coordinating services
  • Work to fair and exhibition budgets set by the Directors
  • Assist in the oversight of installation and de-installation of all exhibitions and art fair presentations in concert with Head Preparator
  • Coordinate creation of physical and digital models for exhibitions and art fair presentations 
  • Work with the Head Preparator to determine supply needs for fairs and exhibitions   

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Bachelors of Arts degree with previous experience coordinating exhibitions at a gallery, museum, or comparable arts organization 
  • Experience coordinating art fair presentations preferred
  • Knowledge of contemporary art and art history
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of various artwork media and fabrication materials and methods, as well as general handling and packing practices and procedures 
  • Knowledge of basic construction and ability to oversee and direct vendors / contractors
  • High attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and ability to implement and manage multiple projects and timelines
  • Strong negotiating skills and ability to creatively problem solve
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment 
  • Strong computer skills, Mac proficient
  • General proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Sketchup
  • Experience using inventory database such as ArtBase preferred
