The Development Manager focuses on revenue generation as it relates to the organization’s mission, vision, and budget projections. The Development Manager reports to Director and is specifically responsible for overseeing strategic development, execution and the financial success of the organization through membership, individual giving, public and private grants, sponsorships, fundraisers and facility rentals/tours. This position is a member of Senior Staff with additional management and operations responsibilities. 

Development Responsibilities include:

  • Develop LUX membership program objectives and strategies in order to increase revenues, engage the community and broaden interest in LUX

  • Manage revenue and sales of major and minor LUX fundraising events; provide oversight of all major and minor LUX fundraisers (including annual Lux After Dark Gala)

  • Cultivate individual donors in the form of annual appeal, ongoing contact strategies and personal correspondence

  • Manage the eTapestry database, maintaining consistency in the data, generating monthly reports and turning analysis of the data in the revenue generating action items

  • Provide monthly Advancement Report for the Board of Directors

  • Manage Visitors Services and Advancement Program Assistant

  • Manage grants research, grants calendar, grant submissions and grant reporting

  • Develop sponsorship materials for LUX exhibition and program sponsorships

  • Identify sponsors and provide follow up for all sponsor activities

  • Provide oversight of all donor appreciation events and donor appreciation correspondence

  • Identify connections between patrons, members, students and donors to deepen relationships with and commitment to LUX

  • Develop & Manage the Advisory and Community Advisory Boards with Education Director

  • Provide oversight of all facility rental agreements and rentals as it pertains to quarterly projections and overall client satisfaction

  • Collaborate with Visitor Services and Education Director to provide tours as needed

  • Develop and manage budget, including weekly tracking of revenue goals and budgeted expenses

  • Participates in events and openings as needed to act as a LUX host, welcoming visitors, patrons, volunteers and their guests 

Senior Staff & Operations Responsibilities include:

  • Work with Accountant on yearly preparation for annual audit and tax filings

  • Implementation of policies and procedures and Employee Handbook maintenance

  • Facilitate performance evaluations

  • Coordinate staff meetings, retreats and events

  • Support Director in delivery of materials and relationships of Board of Directors; take minutes at monthly meeting, support production of agendas, materials and correspondence

  • Oversee organization and cleanliness of office space as well as office supplies
