The Young Americans seeks an inspirational and visionary leader as its Chief Executive Officer. The Young Americans, founded in 1962, is a nonprofit organization with no religious or political affiliation, dedicated to the promotion of understanding and goodwill among people throughout the world through music, dance, performance, academic education, and cultural interaction among student members and their audiences. The Young Americans inspires the world through music with captivating performances, signature youth programs, and its performing arts college. It is comprised of members who are accepted into the organization based upon their talent and their interest in fulfilling the organization’s mission as volunteers. The Young Americans College of the Performing Arts opened in 2010 and currently offers an Associate of Arts in Performance degree. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be charged with leading The Young Americans into the next phase of its extraordinary journey. The CEO will work to ensure The Young Americans’ financial and operational success in achieving its mission and strategic objectives. The CEO will oversee an organization which has an annual budget of about $6 million and employs approximately 25 full time staff, and 24 part time personnel. The CEO must have an appreciation of and passion for the artistic and educational mission of the organization while also installing best business practices. Candidates must have vision and a proven track record of success in nonprofit organizational leadership. The CEO should also have an understanding of institutional image building, marketing, external relations, and fundraising. While experience in performing arts management is preferred, candidates with executive leadership in education and other nonprofit organizations will also be considered. Major gift fundraising experience is essential and experience with a capital campaign would be a plus. An undergraduate degree is required. An advanced degree in business, nonprofit management, arts management or a similar degree is strongly preferred.
