Position Title: Performing Arts Center (PAC) Production Assistant

Part-time, hourly position, an average of 20 hours per week; $20 per hour.

The Hours are 3-6 p.m. on school days (Monday-Friday) beginning Monday, Aug. 28, 2017 and ending May 23, 2018. Work dates are listed at the end of this description. During performance weeks, hours will shift to evenings and sometimes Saturdays.  

Position objectives:

The Performing Arts Production Assistant supports theatre, music, and dance rehearsals and performances, as well as other non-arts events that occur beyond the regular school day. Primary duties include providing technical production support in the areas of lighting, sound, video and other basic technical aspects of the Performing Arts Center. The Production Assistant must be familiar with rehearsal and performance practices, including both backstage and front-of-the-house procedures. The Production Assistant will work with the Technical Director, Production Manager and directors of individual arts events as well as administrators from other areas of the School. The Production Assistant will also manage and support adult volunteers for individual events. When not working in an active production capacity, the Production Assistant will assist with administrative duties in support of current and future productions.  

PROVIDE TECHNICAL SUPPORT

The Production Assistant is called upon to be a problem solver for basic technical issues. The skills needed include familiarity with basic theater lighting, microphone or other audio equipment, and ability to support other technical aspects of the PAC.

ARTS PRODUCTIONS INCLUDE six theater productions (Grades 1-3 Musical, Grades 4-5 Musical, Middle School Musical, Middle School Play, Upper School Musical, Upper School Play, Tartan Jams, Dance Concerts, Christmas Concert, Coffee House Cabarets, Spring Band, Orchestra and Vocal concerts.         

ASSIST WITH ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
When not in production mode, help with administrative tasks to further the objectives of the Arts program. Facilitate hosting MACYs judges and Cappies Critics.

SUPERVISE STUDENTS

For most arts programs, supervision is required to ensure student safety. The Production Assistant will help ensure students are in the right place for after-school arts activities. The Assistant will help supervise cast members during auditions, attend parent meetings, monitor green rooms during production weeks, help with cast and crew meals/parties.
